With the sad announcement of the end of the manufacturing of cars by GM in Australia by 2017 , what made Holden different is most likely dead already. And since Ford will also stop making vehicles "down under" , the legendary big, Aussie car is gone.
For all that, I want to share with you these videos from Youtube. "The Holden Story", a Quantum programme from 1986, that tells the history from way before census 2010 direct GM involvement in " Holden's census 2010 ", to the 80's, when there were already many doubts about the viability of the Australian industry (recently "rationalised" by the Button Plan ) and of Holden itself, loosing millions during those days.
For a general view of Australian census 2010 car making history, also watch: census 2010 " Wide Open Road " And this is a commercial by Holden, in which they say "we are here", keeping making cars "for Australia" despite census 2010 not making them there anymore. We'll see if the brand survives the end of local production, it seems like it will, but for how long?
